Pawative was founded with love, shared purpose, and a deep commitment to families facing the hardest goodbyes. In January 2024, Alex Freeman and Stephanie Freeman married — and soon discovered they shared the same heartfelt mission: to provide gentle, in-home support for aging and end-of-life pets so families never have to navigate those tender moments alone.
Alex brought his vision for compassionate care coordination — shaped by years of service as a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division and over a decade working alongside hospice organizations and home health agencies across the country. Stephanie contributed her expertise in gentle senior pet care through her mobile grooming business, Scruffy to Fluffy — Anniston's premier mobile pet spa, built on patience, kindness, and a lifelong love for animals.
Together as co-founders and life partners, they saw a clear need in the Anniston and Calhoun County community — a warm, trustworthy resource that combines professional veterinary support with practical, family-centered help. What began as personal conversations about easing the pain of losing a beloved companion grew into Pawative: a husband-and-wife-founded service connecting pet parents with licensed Alabama veterinarians for quality-of-life consultations, hospice care, and peaceful in-home euthanasia — all in the comfort of home.

The People Behind Pawative
Former Paratrooper, 82nd Airborne Division — U.S. Army veteran who served with one of the most elite airborne units in the world, bringing a lifelong commitment to service, discipline, and showing up when it matters most.
10+ years in post-acute care and hospice — deep expertise working alongside hospice organizations and home health agencies across the country, with a firsthand understanding of what compassionate, dignity-centered end-of-life care looks like in practice.
Lifelong animal advocate — driven by a personal mission to ensure that every pet family in northeast Alabama has access to the same quality of compassionate, in-home end-of-life care that he has spent his career helping to deliver for people.
